Specialty pharmacy opens in Portland

A pharmacy that uses technlogy to speed delivery of prescriptions to medical specialists has opened in Southeast Portland.

Irvine, Calif.-based ERxsys Inc. serves pain management, neurologists, psychiatric, orthopedic and oncology physicians. It fills prescriptions generated by member physicians using what it calls "proprietary e-prescribing technology."

"It has become clear to us that a major selling point of our system, which includes a highly experienced customer care specialist, is the enormous time saved for our member physicians and their staffs," said David Parker, CEO of ERxsys. "We have consistently found that the average pain physician spends as much as two hours per day on the refill-reauthorization process, while his administrative staff spends approximately three hours each day. This time savings translates into significant savings for their practice."

The company's Portland location is at Powell Square, 3822 S.E. Powell Blvd., which is within a seven-mile radius of five major medical facilities in Portland, the company noted. Jerry Sachtjen, the pharmacist in charge of the Portland pharmacy, has practiced for over 30 years in the drug dispensing industry and has held the position of president of Oregon's Pharmacist Association.
