Gold Standard Enters HIT Services Space with Launch of Informed Decisions
TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 2005--Gold Standard, a leading developer of drug information databases, software and clinical information solutions, has launched Informed Decisions, a wholly owned subsidiary that provides strategic health information technology (HIT) services to healthcare interests including state governments, commercial insurance payers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and professional healthcare associations.
"By applying the clinical and technical expertise cultivated at Gold Standard, Informed Decisions is equipped to provide a full array of HIT services. These services include the custom technologies, clinical studies and business processes that will help our clients advance the clinical, financial and humanistic outcomes for the providers they support and, ultimately, the beneficiaries of their care," says David Medvedeff, PharmD., MBA, president, Informed Decisions.
Adds Russ Thomas, CEO of Gold Standard: "Its focus on the services side of healthcare information technology -- a sector we have not previously served -- makes Informed Decisions a perfect complement to Gold Standard's focus on providing innovative clinical information products that leverage the power of point-of-care technology to save lives and money."
In addition to managing all services related to Gold Standard's electronic prescribing program, eMPOWERx(TM), Informed Decisions has launched Beneficiary-Centered Enrollment (BCE), an innovative service designed to educate and better-inform Medicaid beneficiaries on their Medicare Part D options. A primary focus of BCE will be providing patient-specific information during the open enrollment period, particularly for dual-eligible beneficiaries whose prescription drug benefits will transition from Medicaid to Medicare.
"By utilizing technology, Informed Decisions' BCE service will provide beneficiaries with access to the comprehensive, personalized data they need to make informed decisions regarding their Medicare Part D drug benefits," says Medvedeff. "Our website also will serve as an information source for beneficiaries and for retail pharmacists and physicians who are providing counseling on drug plans and assisting with the enrollment process."
