Delivering Electronic Prescribing Solutions Through Leading Applications Will
Improve Clinical Outcomes, Efficiency and Cost Savings
ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- RxHub(R), the leader in
connecting the prescribing industry for the exchange of patient-specific
prescribing information between physicians, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs)
and pharmacies; and Cerner Corp., the leading supplier of healthcare
information technology, announced a joint venture that will improve patient
care and clinical outcomes by integrating RxHub's content with Cerner's
leading applications.
RxHub and Cerner will work together to push real-time eligibility,
formulary, and co-pay information to clinicians at the point of care, enabling
more informed decision-making, reducing costs and improving the quality of
care.
The healthcare industry is increasingly turning toward information
technology to provide the information needed to improve clinical outcomes.
Recently, Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt said he "sees a day
when every American can have access to an electronic health record." RxHub is
proud to support this national initiative by working with an industry leader
who is recognized throughout the industry for creating innovative technology
solutions that impact healthcare quality and cost. Most recently, Cerner
earned First Honors in the Electronic Health Record Systems for Hospitals at
the Toward an Electronic Patient Record conference. Additionally, Cerner has
received recognition for its groundbreaking work with BlueCross BlueShield of
Tennessee to build a community health record for Tennessee's Medicaid
population.
"We are excited about the opportunity to work with a world-renowned leader
in improving the delivery of healthcare through innovation and practical
solutions," said David McLean, CEO RxHub. "We share a goal that is focused on
providing the right care to the right patient every time through informed
decision making."
"Clinicians and patients can make the best decisions when they have the
right information at the right time," said Jay Linney, director of state and
regional programs. "Cerner is excited to work with RxHub to offer our clients
an even more robust option for putting information into the hands of
clinicians when they need it most - at the point of care."
