RxHub and Script IQ Create Integrated Formulary Management and Distribution Solution for Payers
Thursday January 26, 9:00 am ET
Through the integration of Script IQ's flagship product, FormularyDynamIQs(TM), with RxHub's PRN, payers can reduce the costs and resource demands of maintaining current formularies, preparing Medicare Part D submissions and re-gain control of the quality and timeliness of their pharmacy benefit information. The combination of patient medication history, insurance eligibility and specific benefit information provides the essential data to an e-Prescribing application, such as those provided by over 40 of RxHub's e-Prescribing partners, for improving patient safety, reducing pharmacy benefit costs and reducing the cost of the doctor-patient interaction.
"Our current and prospective customers have established the value of distributing pharmacy benefit information to the point-of-care," said Tom Groom, senior vice-president, business development. "Now, their focus is on improving the quality and timeliness of their underlying formulary data. Our relationship with Script IQ offers our customers the opportunity to reduce the costs of maintaining high-quality, timely and accurate formulary information to ensure that the appropriate pharmacy benefit details are available to consumers and at the point-of-care."
A Seamless Workflow for Controlling Pharmacy Benefit Costs, Improving Patient
Safety and Improving Healthcare Service
The FormularyDynamIQs application offers payers a powerful suite of tools to create, manage and publish formularies to a variety of locations such as consumer web-sites, directly to commercial printers, to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and to RxHub. Underlying the formulary management application is Script IQ's U.S. Drug DB(TM), the most accurate NDC- 11 coded database of drugs currently available for human prescribing, which provides a constant foundation for payers to eliminate irrelevant and obsolete drugs from their formularies.
Once approved, the "cleansed" formulary files can then be automatically translated to an appropriate exchange format and submitted to RxHub's servers for downstream distribution to e-Prescribing vendors. This ensures that doctors at the point-of-care have accurate information on which to base their healthcare decisions and reinforces the value of the activities of the payer's P & T committees.
"The power of this relationship lies in the new best practices of pharmacy information management," said Marc Lilly, CEO of Script IQ. "RxHub's national network is a cornerstone of the move to electronic prescribing and the quality, safety and economic advantages it represents. With this integration our mutual customers can be assured the power of RxHub's ability to push their formularies to the point-of-care is balanced with accurate and meaningful content."
