Healthcare Technologies Symposium “Healthcare on the Record”

Theme: This Symposium is the latest in a series of events focusing on
current issues in healthcare technologies. The aim is to create a forum in
which a number of experts will discuss new technological developments, from
a wide range of perspectives, which offer the potential to enhance the
organisation and delivery of health care.
The theme for 2006 will be Connecting for Health. This is the revolutionary
programme which will see electronic health (and social) care records for
all, electronic prescribing and electronic booking of hospital appointments,
all made possible through the provision of a national IT infrastructure. A
panel of eminent speakers will discuss the progress of this Connecting for
Health programme and the challenges that it offers if change is to be
brought about in a manner that will benefit patient, healthcare professional
and health manager alike.
Speakers: will include:
- Professor Mike Pringle (Professor of General Practice, University

- Sir Jonathan Michael (CEO of the Guy's and
Foundation Trust)
- Marlene Winfield (Head of Public Engagement, NHS Connecting for
Health)
Their individual contributions will be followed by a period of general
discussion.
Organisation: The Symposium is a joint event of City Health Informatics (CHI), four of the
City Livery Companies (The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, and the
Worshipful Companies of Barbers, Scientific Instrument Makers and
Information Technologists) and the

Participation in the Symposium is free of charge. If you wish to attend the
